  Uncertainty Analysis

Uncertainty analysis is critical to the characterization of risks, particularly when decision makers are using information to make policy choices that will have important consequences for human health and the environment as well as potentially significant economic impacts. IEc staff recognize the importance of uncertainty and are adept at designing and implementing the appropriate type of analysis for a particular risk assessment. These types of analysis range from qualitative consideration of the sources, magnitude, and direction of uncertainty, to simple sensitivity analyses which identify the range of possible risks, to sophisticated probabilistic approaches using Monte Carlo simulation techniques.
